The division is responsible for the administration of programs for plant disease and pest prevention and eradication, programs for disease and pest management, and inspection of designated diseases and pests of propagated planting materials.

Strengthen the monitoring, warning and notification systems for plant diseases and pests. Establish pest risk analysis and loss evaluation systems.

Conduct plant disease and pest prevention and eradication programs, and promote coordinated and emergency management of important diseases and pests.

Enforce and supervise inspections for designated diseases and pests of propagated planting materials.

Strengthen researches on plant disease and pest identification, diagnosis and control methods, and develop technologies for
integrated pest management.

Promote and supervise demonstration and extension programs for plant disease and pest prevention and control.and strengthen the promotion of non-pesticide control measures. Supervise disease and pest control in the supplying orchards designated for exports.

Promote educational programs for the publics to obtain knowledge relating to plant protection, and offer guidance to private organizations intending to coorperate in combatting plant diseases and pests.

Establish and update plant disease and pest management data bank, and provide technical assistance to farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs.
